Each quarter we attend an update run by Xero where they share the latest news and features. Here is what they ran through in their November update:
Contacts
New user experience
Xero have refreshed the ‘list view’ page in contacts to make it easier to create and manage customer and supplier contact information from the list view page.
New Invoicing
Xero have been encouraging you to try new invoicing for some time – some of the functionality of old invoicing has been missing until now. To check out new invoicing click on the ‘switch to new invoicing’ icon at the bottom of the classic invoice.

Show/hide invoice fields
Xero have redesigned the invoice table and given you control over what fields are shown or hidden when creating an invoice.
Add last items
You can now add the last invoiced items for a contact, to a new invoice at a click of a button.
Repeating invoice banner
A notification banner now appears on invoices that have been generated from a repeating invoice template with text about the frequency of the invoice and a link to the template.
Pay now banner
Xero has made it easier for customers to pay an online invoice by keeping the ‘pay now’ button visible at the top of their browser as they scroll.
Google Pay
When you add Stripe as a payment service to an online invoice, customers can now pay using Google Pay.
Bank rules
Bank rules are great when you haven’t got an invoice and need to code something quickly. These can be accessed by the three dots next to your bank account on your dashboard.

Search rules
You can now search for specific bank rules by name or condition.
Products and services
Products or services allows you to pre-fill line items on invoices and speeds up the process. The latest update to this is:
Filter items
You can now filter your products and services list to show active items only or all items, including those that you’ve archived. The new item creation page has also had an update.
Profit & Loss
The new profit and loss report now includes the ability to quicky view it in a column view and you can now add in:
Total & YTD columns
You can now quickly add ‘Total’ and ‘Year to date’ columns from the ‘more’ button in your profit & loss report.
Common formats panel
Xero have added a new collapsible side panel that gives you easy access to a selection of common formats in the profit & loss and balance sheet reports.
Quick add text blocks and footers
You can now add text blocks and footers within the reports without needing to edit the layout.

- View purchase orders
You are now able to view any purchase orders created in Xero on your desktop on the Xero Accounting App.
- Reconcile fees
You can now filter by, search for and match, both spend and receive money transactions from ‘Find and Match’ on the Xero Accounting App.
- Expense claims in Xero Me
Xero have added the ability to submit an expense and mileage claim from Xero Me. Expenses approvers should still use the Xero Expenses App.
